What we need from You

Before we Start YOUR Website

Building a website happens in steps. Before WE can begin, we will need the following from YOU.

Pictures

Pictures are the first thing a site visitor is going to notice once they click on your website. Do not waste this first impression with a lackluster website. We are going to need pictures from you. They need to adhere to the following criteria.

  • They must be in a digital format and have the .JPEG or .PNG file extension
  • They must be clear
  • Use Social Media Images Only with Permission
  • Use Public Domain Images (a.k.a. ‘No Copyright’ Images) Public Domain images have no copyright
  • Use Your Own Images that you created

NOTE: To use a copyrighted image, you will first have to seek authorization from the creator. Failure to abide by this rule can result in harsh consequences such as penalties, fines, lawsuits, and a DMCA takedown notice. In severe cases, the infringer can even face jail time. Even the selfie you took for your Instagram account is protected by copyright laws making the author (you) the sole owner of the image. So be careful with other people’s photos.

The wording for your website

Chances are that you are going to try to get a particular point across on your website. Whatever that may be, one thing is for certain, only YOU know what you are trying to convey. And besides pictures, the only way to do this is with words. Here are some tips.

  • Attention to Detail is Critical.
  • Keep Your Readers’ Attention.
  • Know What You Want – And What Readers Want.
  • Explain How You Are Different.
  • Make Sure Your Readers Can Follow.
  • Communication and Leadership.
  • Conclusion.

We need you to supply us with the wording for your website. This can happen a lot of ways, but the easiest for everyone will probably be by email. Simply copy and paste your wording into an email and get it to us. But please try to organize the process. Let us know where the wording is supposed to go; home page, contact page, under a specific picture, etc.

We know that everyone did not major in proofreading in college. We will do our best to fix any issues we encounter. We will look for grammar, spelling, punctuation and other problems that we find unless asked not to. But in order to impress the public with your site, you really need to avoid anything that would convey a lack of professionalism.
